Our educational program meets
the needs of young children with a teacher/student ratio of 1:6. The curriculum
includes art, music, dance/movement, science and nature, occasional field
trips and pre-math and pre-reading activities, which allow children to learn
at their own pace. We encourage children to be creative in a variety of ways
with arts and crafts materials, problem solving activities and in dramatic
play with friends. Within our program, there is a designated Pre-K work time,
for children who will be entering kindergarten the following September. This
curriculum strand was developed to help children gain skill in large and fine
motor areas, as well as pre-reading, writing, math and science.
Each session follows the same
daily schedule:
CHOOSING TIME Children
choose among various activities such as painting, manipulative toys, dramatic
play, dress up and sand and water play.
GROUP TIME All children
gather in a circle to participate in movement, singing, music, word games
or discussions of special themes of study. Our circle times are short, action
oriented and geared to the developmental level of the children. Thursdays
and Fridays are Sharing Days, when children are encouraged to bring something
special from home.
SNACK Each child brings
a healthy snack and beverage in his or her own lunch box.
OUTDOOR PLAY We have our
own private play yard, which includes a sandbox, climbing equipment and a
custom play structure.
STORY/SONG TIME We end each day by coming together to read stories and sing.
