Wind in the Willows

WELCOME TO PROSPECTIVE FAMILIES!

P H I L O S O P H Y
Every family is welcome at Wind in the Willows. We strive to reflect all racial, cultural, and economic segments of the community. Our child-directed curriculum recognizes the value of children learning through play, at their own pace and within a context that is meaningful to them. We provide a safe and nurturing environment that emphasizes creativity, socialization, motor skills, cognitive development and lots of time for dramatic play.

Our educational staff consists of one teacher/director and 4 teachers who, we are proud to say, have a combined 60 years of experience in early childhood education. Two of our teachers have been with the school for many years, and we’re proud that this stability provides a balanced, nurturing environment for young children. They work closely together to develop curriculum and direct the daily operations of the school.

Wind in the Willows values a sense of community. With this in mind parents are welcome and encouraged to help at our school. Parents can choose to come in to read at story time, do an art project, or special activity. By including parents in the classroom children can see how their home and school experiences are interrelated. The Wind in the Willows school calendar offers many opportunities to meet and work with other parents. Participation in events such as board meetings, parties, family picnics, field trips, school maintenance days, special activities, and annual fundraisers will give parents the opportunity to become a part of our school community. Parent education nights offer the opportunity to discuss issues of child growth and development with an early childhood education professional. Additional workshops address topics such as kindergarten readiness and choosing an elementary school.
